The Tbilisi Guide is an independent, reader-supported travel guide to Tbilisi and Georgia. We publish practical, plain-spoken guides for people actually planning a trip: what things cost in lari, how the metro and marshrutkas really work, which day trips are worth the drive, and what to order when the menu is in Georgian script.
We started the site because most of what we found online about Georgia was either ten years out of date, copied from press releases, or written by people who had clearly never paid for a sulfur bath. Our aim is simple: be the guide we wished we’d had.
How we research and write
Every article is researched against current sources before it is published: official operator and government pages (Tbilisi Transport Company, Georgian Railways, visa.gov.ge, the National Bank of Georgia), venue websites and booking systems, and recent first-hand traveller reports. Where sources disagree on a price or a timetable, we say so and give a range rather than inventing precision.
- Sources are cited. Outbound links in our articles point to the pages we relied on, so you can check them yourself.
- Every guide is dated. Articles carry a “Last checked” note. Prices, fares and opening hours in Georgia change often — treat older notes with more caution.
- We name real places. Restaurants, hotels and bathhouses we mention are verified as operating at the time of writing. We phrase recommendations by reputation, not by pretending to have eaten everywhere.
- We don’t pad. If a topic only needs 800 words, it gets 800 words.

The Tbilisi Guide is free to read. We may earn a small commission if you book through some links, and we display advertising. Corrections and updates
Georgia moves fast — a bus route changes, a bathhouse raises its prices, a visa rule is amended. If you spot something wrong or out of date, please tell us. We check the claim against a current source and update the article, and we note the change rather than quietly rewriting it.
